why your life keeps repeating – and how to change what happens next
Psychology, identity + the lives we practice. A book + podcast by Melinda B. Johnson, founder of Peaur.

Melinda B. Johnson is a writer, psychology graduate student, and founder of Peaur, a private skin and sensory practice exploring the relationship between state, touch, environment, and the way we experience ourselves.
Her work centers on identity: how it is formed, reinforced, rehearsed, and ultimately changed. She is currently completing The Version Effect, a book exploring why our lives can seem to repeat and what becomes possible when we begin practicing a different version of ourselves.
Melinda’s path to this work has been anything but linear. She has moved through entrepreneurship, performance, music, yoga and mindfulness, psychological research, esthetics, and motherhood, experiences that deepened her interest in the distance between the identities we perform and the ones we eventually inhabit.
Through The Version Effect, its forthcoming podcast, and her speaking work, Melinda brings psychology into conversation with lived experience, curiosity, and the quieter intelligence of the body.
She is currently completing her master’s degree in psychology.
